Directions

Blue Hills Alpacas is a small farm owned by Nancy and Leo Gonsowski, located in the picturesque area of the Blue Hills in Northwestern Wisconsin. While we still enjoy our horses, we have been enjoying the pleasant company of alpacas since 1996, when we decided to plan for our retirement.

We owned and operated a horse boarding facility for over 20 years and were responsible for the care and management of up to 50 horses each month. As we neared retirement, we realized we couldn't just quit, so alpacas became a natural extension of our years of experience with animals, and therefore perfect for our retirement. Leo retired from his job of 25 years in 1999, when we then returned to Northwestern Wisconsin, his home area.

Nancy has been a fiber artist since an early age, having learned to knit and crochet at age five. She found working with natural fibers to be very rewarding and progressed to spinning and weaving and now spends many hours making a variety of items with natural fibers; as well as enjoying participating in two spinning guilds. The groups give demonstrations at a variety of locations throughout the year as well as attending Wool and Fiber festivals in Wisconsin and Minnesota.
