The Fiber Mill

In August of 2002, we opened a fiber mill on our farm to process our fleece as well as others. After working with a mill for some time, we realized this was a way to combine our interests and goals. We have equipment to handle all types of fibers; wool, fine wool and exotics and process into batts, roving or clouds as well as custom spin your fiber into yarn.  We can also custom blend fibers to suit the individual. If you're not sure exactly what you want done, please contact us. We are able to do a variety of partial blends for color variation and are willing to try your ideas as well as apply our own. We also have access to other fibers for blending with yours. We usually offer many colors of alpaca, wool, and Mohair already processed, in our small shop.

This will be added to the 'carding only' charges when made into roving, batts or clouds.  - A deposit of 35% of estimated charges is required with receipt of your fiber and instructions.  We will bill you when your order is near completion with the balance due prior to shipping.  A 1.5% fee per month will be charged on invoices not paid within 30 days - If you want any services not listed, or you are not sure which services you need, please email us. - For best results, fiber should be well skirted with NO barn sweepings, twine, wire, toenails, etc. - We reserve the right to refuse any fleece with excessive vegetable matter, or that we feel we cannot suitably process.                                            Prices subject to change without notice ______________________________________________________________________________________                                    Spinning Fees & Information                                    Fiber Singles for 2 ply yarn Bulky Sport/Worsted Fingering/fine Wool 13.00/lb 14.00/lb 16.00/lb Fine Wools  14.00/lb 15.00/lb 17.00/lb Wool/exotic blends 15.00/lb 16.00/lb 18.00/lb 100% exotics  16.00/lb     17.00/lb   19.00/lb Plying     1.00/lb     1.50/lb    2.50/lb   - We are unable to process 100% Suri Alpaca or 100% mohair and on occasion Huacaya alpaca fiber.  We reserve the right to add wool to any exotic fiber necessary to process unless requested not to.  In that case the fiber will be returned in roving or clouds - If you are interested in 3 ply yarn, please remember the spinning fee is based on the spinning and plying weight of the singles.  - Individual spinning batches under 3 pounds add $5.00 per pound finished weight.  - Spinning charges are based on finished weight and include machine picking, carding, and drafting.  - A separate fee for washing of $2.50 per pound for wool and $2.75 per pound for fine wool and exotics will be charged based on the incoming weight.  These charges also apply to fibers that must be rewashed.  - Fiber must be a minimum of 3 1/2 inches and a maximum of 7 1/4 inches in length.  Please be sure to check the length of your fiber before sending it for spinning.  Use a ruler and stretch the staple out to measure accurately.  Thank you.  Yarn Finishing  Skeins Random Weight No Charge 4 oz $1.50/lb 2 oz $2.00/lb Washing/Set Twist $2.00/lb   Individual spinning lots of more than 25 pounds (finished) will receive a 5% discount on spinning fees only.                                                                                                                                                       Shipping instructions - Bag separate fleeces and ship in cardboard boxes. Please be sure your name is on or in each bag. - Ship with whatever carrier you desire, however we will return via USPS or UPS. - To ensure prompt attention to your order, please contact us for your processing needs prior to shipping.  - Make sure that your name, address, phone number, e-mail address and complete instructions are in each box.  If you want the finished product delivered to a different address, please include    that information as well.  For spinning orders, please include a sample of the yarn weight you want.  Ship to.
